This workshop will be an intensive 3 days covering everything from different supports and sizing and ground preparations, to materials and techniques for beautiful and arresting compositions, value structure, edge control, colour mixing, brush handling, varnishing and more. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a sound understanding of a range of transferable painting techniques that can be used for confident oil paintings with mood, vibrancy and vitality.
What to expect:
After a discussion on the behaviour and properties of supports, grounds, oil paints, mediums and brushes, we will dive into composition theory before starting to draw and paint, exploring the breadth and potential of this amazing medium over three days.
We will cover all aspects of the indirect painting process sequentially, putting each technique into practice with a range of still life studies and paintings, building these skills as we go.
As this is an intensive, places will be capped at 12 so I can give full attention to everyone’s needs and questions (there are always way more questions at painting workshops!).
This workshop is held at the beautiful Old Witta School just outside Maleny. Please bring your own lunch. There are fridges and microwaves. Morning tea will be provided.
