Artist Statement
My Gouaches are a new direction in my practice, focussing on expressionistic figure drawing and a simple and cohesive colour palette applied instinctively and with immediacy.
These artworks explore the psyche behind physical expression and the wordless conversation between the artist and model.
A model's physicality, life experience, aesthetics, sensibilities and personality are reflected in how they pose, even with direction from the artist. It is this intersection, this communion I am working to capture in these artworks.
Frames are indicative only. I cut all my own frames and have a selection of quality older mouldings of exceptional quality, but discontinued lines. As such I can provide a similar profile to the one pictured, but not necessarily exact. If you have any concerns, please contact me here
