In the Beginning

Part of a small collection, this artwork evolved from the inspiration to showcase Sarah, who has been my muse and primary model for 20 years.

Working from photographs spanning this collaborative 20 year history, I wanted to render her in a new light, using mainly complete figures, not my usual focus on elements of the figure.

These artworks are intimate and personal, and in a way, a return to the reason I began pursuing art in the first place.

To this end, I have chosen to work smaller than I have done before to communicate the preciousness of this body of work.

They are framed in beautiful slim, deep-set black frames with dark charcoal fabric mounts, inspired by the styles sometimes used for framing daguerreotypes of the mid 1800’s.
