My artworks are a form of visual diary. They are a way to communicate to my viewer how I see the world and what is important to me, what has impacted me enough to take the required time to produce a major artwork.

I am fascinated by the figure and how the psyche is expressed through the physical body, by portraiture's ability to account for someone in a singularly profound and generous way, and through still life, how we imbue objects with meaning and personal value, regardless of their intrinsic or current value independent of us.

I have been drawing the figure since the age of 5. My continuing autodidactic studies of anatomy, composition, classical painting and art history have informed my keen interest in the human figure, portraiture and still life as the major focuses of my art.
